Hand-Sewn, Custom-Made Moccasins
All Arrow moccasins are hand-made in Hudson, Massachusetts.  At Hide & Sole, we measure your feet for length and width, and Arrow custom makes the moccasins for you.  Allow 8 weeks for delivery.  Arrow Moccasins are "English Chrome True Mocs."

ENGLISH CHROME

This leather originates from Swiss Cows.  Switzerland is the only country in the world that produces hides thick enough to use in moccasins without a sole.  What makes these hides so strong and so flexible is the tanning process; i.e. the chemicals and techniques used during the curing of the hide.  "Chrome" is a broad technical term that identifies the general process - the ingredients used in the process determine the end results.  Arrow started using this leather for moccasins in the early fifties and have never found anything better.  Many US tanneries have since tried to duplicate this tanning process without success.

TRUE MOC

The term "True Moc," in the trade, means that the shoe is sewed on the top.  All other types of shoes are wrapped around the last, then cemented and/or sewed on the bottom.  This type of shoe must have a hard sole put on to cover all of the pieces of leather that have been gathered underneath.  The "True Moc" on the other hand, has only one piece of leather under the foot.  It becomes a soft leather shoe that actually forms to the exact contours of the feet to give barefoot comfort with the protection of thick leather.

STITCHING

Arrow moccasins are completely hand-sewn with a Dacron-Polyester thread.  This thread is coated with beeswax before use and is the very best on the market.  Arrow guarantees the stitching for the life of the moccasin. 

RESOLES

Arrow will resole any chrome moccasin.  It doesn't matter if it was originally a single sole or a double sole.  The ones that usually cannot be resoled are those that have been worn in water and dried with heat.  These will often become too hard to pierce for stitching.  It is advised to use mink oil regularly to keep them soft and pliable.  The mocs can be worn in water, but must be left to dry naturally and then treated.
